Social Media - Mental Health

 Hi Class,

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I wanted to share an article with you all regarding social media and our mental health. As many of you know, social media plays a huge role in our daily lives especially for those who often find it difficult to imagine life without it. While social media offers opportunities for connection and access to important information, it also comes with risks such as privacy concerns, negative impacts on sleep and emotional well-being. The article highlights how studies have shown that increased social media and smartphone use among individuals can be linked to higher levels of mental distress and self-harm. I encourage you to reflect on your own social media use as you read and think about ways to build a healthier relationship with these platforms.

  1. Hi, India! Thank you for sharing this article. It really got me thinking. It’s so true that social media is deeply woven into our routines, and while it brings a sense of connection, it can quietly take a toll on our well-being. I have to say that my first thing to do when I wake up every morning is to check out my phone in some certain social media platforms. And I just feel how time flies! I’ve definitely noticed how mindless scrolling sometimes leaves me feeling more anxious or tired, especially at night. Your post is a great reminder to be more intentional with how we engage online. I’ve been trying to set screen time limits and take more digital breaks, still a work in progress, but worth it!
